Encompassing 8,938 acres of water, Lake Waccamaw is one of Carolina’s most unique bay lakes. Unlike other Carolina bay lakes, Lake Waccamaw’s limestone bluffs render its water suitable for a wide variety of plants and animals. The body of water is a habitat for 52 species of game and non-game fish, and approximately five species on North Carolina’s rare plant list.
